Strong home performance

MATCH REPORT: BURGESS HILL PHOENIX BLUE VS HEATHFIELD & HORAM | 15/11/24 FULL TIME: 12 - 0

Fixture 3 in the Flex Ultra League Division 1 saw the Blues taking on Heathfield and Horam.

We started strong, stringing together passes and creating chances immediately. Then it happened, a lovely ball played into Jade from the wing, deft bit of control to take the ball out of the air and she was in, 1 on 1 with the keeper, pow bottom corner 1-0 to the Phoenix!

The first goal settled us and Fran and George were controlling the wings, flying in crosses and running with freedom. Becky and Skilton kept up the pressure in the middle, creating attacks and floating the ball into the box. It was a ball played straight from the middle into the box that cut through the Heathfield defence, Jade pounced again and lofted the ball over the keeper 2-0!!!

The defence were on form, holding the high line enough for Chanelle and Shannon to push up and get involved in the attack. Lauren and Sheena keeping solid at the back not letting a thing through. Some nice headers and balls forward from Lauren. After a good defensive tussle at the back Becky and Sheena combined to play the ball forward it looked like it would get cleared but we all know when Fran is chasing the ball she is likely to get it, she snatched the ball from her defender like an absolute whippet and left her in her wake. She ran into the box and smashed the ball in 3-0 whoop whoop. This all happened in 10 minutes.

Ball played in from George on the wing, straight into the middle, Jade again touch and hit, over the goalies head 4-0.

We kept the pressure up, chasing every ball, one touch football.

Ball played into Jade from Bash, Jade squared to Fran 5-0.

Intensity continued, chance after chance! Fran cut the ball back to the edge of the box Skilton absolutely smashed it - wonder goal!! 6-0! Shannon decided to take a little run through from the back and had a chance just saved by the keeper.

Half time - team talk - just keep doing what you’re doing! Also Bash gets to come out of goal for 10 minutes at the end. Nyssa and Steph came on and got stuck in immediately!

Heathfield kick off, Phoenix were straight in, ball played to Rachael, touch - smash, another wonder goal, straight over the keepers head - 7-0 🎉💪

Steph was immediately cutting balls out in the middle and playing fantastic balls in. And Nyssa slotted in nicely, continued the high line and the defence formed part of the attack! Ball played in from the middle to Fran, who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in 8-0! Although the goal tally was high the work rate from the defence was sublime, Shannon and Lauren pushing up this time with Sheena covering and Nyssa dropping back to help.

Jade was strong on the ball shrugging off a challenge and cutting the ball across the keeper for Rachael to slot in - 9-0! Skilton and George combined with a few passes, ball into Steph, Steph into the box to Fran, Fran smashed it 10-0!

Bash came out of goal with Skilton going in. 1 minute later, Fran cuts in from the corner flag, squares the ball, Bash smashes it 11-0 🎉🎉 crowd goes wild! Ball played in from the middle to Naomi, who ran in covered by 2 defenders, shot - goal 12-0, last touch of the game!!!

A huge result for the Blues, 12 goals, multiple goal scorers (including the keeper), clean sheet - job done.
